Winter Is Finally Over: Why Now’s The Time To Call A Roofing Contractor

With winter finally coming to an end, it's time to give your roof some tender-loving care. Your roof gets exposed to a lot of damaging weather conditions over the winter. That's why you need to end the season with some roof repairs and maintenance. If you're not sure your roof needs attention right now, read the list below. If you're dealing with any of the issues described here, call a roofing contractor as soon as possible. The care you give your roof right now will prevent big problems down the road.

Your Roof Came Off with the Snow

If you needed to remove snow from your roof this past winter, take a close look at the shingles. You could have lost some shingles during the snow removal. That's especially true if you needed to use shovels and scrapers to loosen the snowpack. If you're missing shingles, you need to take care of the repairs right away. You should also check the metal flashing. The metal flashing could have gotten damaged during the snow removal. If that happens, you should get the flashing replaced too.

You're Hearing Creaking Sounds

If you still have some snow packed on your roof,  pay attention to the sounds your home is making. If you hear creaking coming from the roof, it's time to call a roofing contractor. The creaking sounds could mean that your roof is giving way under the added pressure. If that happens, your roof could collapse. The first thing you need to do is get the snowpack removed. Then, have a roofing contractor inspect your roof. If the roofing structure has gotten compromised, take care of the repairs immediately.

You Found New Wet Spots

If you've got a few new wet spots in the attic, don't wait to call a roofing contractor. There's a good chance your roof is leaking. If you have an unfinished attic, you might think you can overlook the leaks for a while. That's not the case though. If the leaks get bad enough, you could end up with water damage. If the damage gets too bad, you may need to replace your roof. Avoid the risks. Get your roof repaired as soon as you spot the leaks.

Don't take chances with your roof. Now that winter is over, get a roofing contractor out to your house. They can take care of the damage your roof sustained over the winter.
